Today marks day one of NaNoWriMo and my birthday month 😀 *giddygiddygiddygiddygiddy*!!!
TODAY’S NANO LOWDOWN:
I began my morning by sifting through the prep work that I compiled during Preptober.
After re-reading my scene list and plot map, I’m happy to report that I still like the direction I’ve chosen to go.
Today wasn’t a heavy writing day. I wanted it to be, but I had other things that needed doing and had to choose to either cut my losses or miss out on writing entirely.
I found time later in the evening to churn out my first chapter.
FINAL WORD COUNT
The scene I chose to write today was a challenging setup piece where my protagonist answers interrogation questions from her irate boss; the challenge came in withholding the right information and sharing what would naturally be known between two characters. I quickly found this balance a bit tedious at this point in time and stopped myself short. After all, I’ve got all month to pull this together.
HURDLE OF THE DAY
Overthinking is the easy part for me, comes naturally – like a sneeze. It’s the NOT overthinking that’s the tough part. The letting my art flow naturally from my mind through my fingertips across the keyboard and into Scrivener…I lost me at ‘letting my art flow.’ My biggest challenge today was in disengaging my over-critical behavior. It was…accomplished, but nary so.
TODAY’S WINS & LOSSES
Today was more successful than otherwise, even if it wasn’t perfect.I didn’t hit 2,000+ words, but I still managed to get some quality writing done today – and I was busy as hell! My favorite part has been using binaural beats with my noise canceling headphones. I only had 40 minutes to write today and I slapped out 1,674 words! That ain’t half bad 😀
SENTENCE OF THE DAY
“It started with me being shot in the trap with a tranq and it ended with me making a deal with a demon-Queen wherein I provide her with an uncomfortable amount of human blood.”
TOMORROW’S NANO AGENDA
Tomorrow, I plan to do things a little different.
Since I got caught up today on delayed projects and household tasks, I have all day tomorrow wide-open for NaNo!
Tomorrow, I’ll be waking up early, plopping down with some lemon water and my wireless keyboard, and clickity-clacking my way through the first five chapters.
That’s right, friends. FIVE CHAPTERS!
Tomorrow is all about that day-one-catchup game 😉
